About the artist:

Terri Hamm Johnson was raised in rural South Dakota, in the shadow of Mt. Rushmore, surrounded by the beauty of the Black Hills. Deep roots of homesteading grandparents, the love of a large family, and the quiet solitude of the country created an ideal environment for a young artist to grow.

She frequently went rock hunting with her father, a geologist. Together they discussed their found treasures of agates, quartz, and petrified rock and how they were formed in nature.

Art has always been Terri’s love, but not her first career.  She received her BSN at South Dakota State University and later an MS from the University of Colorado to become a Nurse Practitioner. From working in an emergency department saving the lives of gunshot victims to delivering a baby in a hospital elevator, life as a nurse was never dull day-to-day. Her greatest passion in nursing was her work in women’s health for 40 years before retiring officially in 2020.

Terri began pursuing her career as a jewelry artist and silversmith at the Denver School of Metal Arts in 2010. She also has trained and learned techniques from local jewelry artist Sandy Harris Murphy, a master silversmith.

Now making sterling silver jewelry full-time from her home studio in Colorado Springs, Terri gathers inspiration from the beauty of the surrounding rocky mountains to form each one-of-a-kind piece. She hopes that each time you wear one of her pieces, you connect with the stones, appreciating their ever-changing story. From being discovered from the earth to becoming the muse of an artist’s dream to bringing out the natural beauty of you, their journey has truly been remarkable
